SylSmart Connected smart lighting solution by Sylvania
Sylvania, with a century-long heritage, specializes in designing and producing lighting solutions across diverse B2B sectors. When I joined, the company was advancing its product-as-a-service strategy and sought further expansion and innovation. They had delineated five distinct smart solutions, branded as ‘SylSmart’, catering to diverse markets. My responsibility was as a first step to craft the visual identity for the ‘SylSmart Connected’ solution – a design that harmonized with the company’s established guidelines while introducing a fresh and distinct identity.
Sylvania provides comprehensive support throughout the SylSmart journey through its 360 Services, encompassing four crucial steps: Assess – understanding pain-points. Manage – paving the way and support. Implement – Execute & fully optimise. Aftercare – Maintain & improve. In my logo design, I aimed to symbolize the connectivity of each node in the lighting system forming a mesh network without a center point, while also capturing the essence of the 360 Services.
Brochure and presentation
As a B2B enterprise, our operations heavily rely on well-designed brochures and presentations. After finalizing the SylSmart logo the focus was on crafting these vital assets. Following this, I established clear guidelines to ensure uniformity in their use by third-party partners and agencies.

Promoting the SylSmart app
The configuration of the SylSmart Connected system is done on a laptop, but users can make adjustments conveniently through the dedicated app. My responsibilities encompassed designing the app’s visual presence on both the App Store and Google Play, which involved creating the app icon, screenshots, and incorporating QR codes that seamlessly link to the app download and website. Additionally, I edited a newsletter to inform customers about the recently launched Android app, while also designing a layout template for upcoming eDMs.
Other assets
The foundational elements of the design are in place, and several promotional materials have been outsourced. Nevertheless, I continue to contribute to the introduction of the SylSmart Connected solution to the market by creating diverse assets, for example the Product List, the Ordering Guide, press ads, selling sheets and various user manuals of the system’s components.
