Medical tour case from concept to prototype

Work in progress.

Valorem is an experienced design studio with a primary focus on product development and industrial design. However, the studio boasts a diverse portfolio encompassing various design projects, including identity design, interior design and exhibition stands design.

A client approached the design studio with a unique concept: creating two sizes of healthcare cases for medicines along with a quick and easily understandable manual. These cases aimed to assist tour groups in preventing minor health issues and addressing them promptly, ensuring the smooth continuation of their activities.

I joined the studio during a university internship when the project had progressed through the research stage, and initial sketches were in place with a close to defined form. My responsibilities included creating an inventory of the medicines, modeling them and designing a layout to fit within the case. This determined the final size of the cases. Additionally, I finalized the design, created 3D models and documentation for manufacturing and devised a product name suitable for global markets.

For the logo, I blended the phrases ‘Carry On’ and ‘Care,’ incorporating the slogan ‘never stop medical case’ and visualizing a cross over a subtle STOP sign. As the prototype entered manufacturing, I designed an icon set for each medicine, which were applied as stickers. I then created a booklet with short descriptions and icons, providing quick solutions to health problems in emergencies. As part of the project, I crafted lifestyle renders and other explanatory visualizations for investor presentations. These visuals aimed to provide a comprehensive and compelling overview of the cases, showcasing their utility and integration into users’ daily lives.
